One of Devon’s secret architectural jewels, Redlon Manor belonged to the legendary Lady Howard, with other occupants including the director David Lean and the famous Australian explorer Edward John Eyre. A (Soil Association Certified) organic estate, you'll get to sample a plethora of delicious homegrown produce during your stay. Exclusive hire of this beautiful private country estate includes a resident chef and house keeper.

Inside

  • Style: Exuding character and charm, the architecture of the Manor includes a fascinating Tudor rear elevation and a Georgian frontage, whilst the great barn, granite arches and garden walls of the manor date from the 1400s. Inside, original features such as oak dog-gates on the stairs, stone mullions and fine beams combine with polished wood and slate flags and original fireplaces.
  • Bedrooms: There are five double bedrooms in the main house, (three en suite, with the other two sharing a shower room). Luxuriate in the spacious master suite where an Emperor-size bed, dressing room and adjoining en suite bathroom with roll top bath combine. In the Coach House, there is a double en suite with adjoining twin bedroom.
  • For relaxation: Take in the views of the garden through the sash windows of the library. There is a lounge and summer games room with table tennis and treadmill in the upstairs of the Coach House which leads out onto a walled garden and secluded pool area.
  • For recreation: Head to the top floor of the house, where you’ll find a fabulous games room which includes a huge home cinema, card table, DVD selection, full size snooker table, chess table, dart board, TV including sky and DVD, and big squishy sofas.

Outside

Covering over 500-acres, there are views to be enjoyed from the south and west across the park, running right down to the banks of the River Tavy. Climbing roses, wisteria and scented plants adorn the garden walls. South Devon cattle, Cheviot sheep and chickens can be found on this organic (Soil Association Certified) farm.

Food and Wine
  • DIY: Fully Staffed. This property is not offered on a self-catering basis.
  • In-house cuisine: Offered on a catered basis, Redlon Manor includes breakfast, dinner, homemade cakes and all soft drinks with the rental. Meals are homecooked by the resident chef using only the freshest of local ingredients grown organically on the estate.Menus can be tailored to individual occasions be it a 5 course banquet in the grand dining room or hog roast served al fresco round the huge granite table.
  • Eating out: If you really can bear to tear yourself away from the haven of Redlon then there are several eateries within close proximity of the property; choose from Hotel Endsleigh, The Horn of Plenty, the New Angel – Dartmouth, Tanners in Plymouth and The Dartmoor Inn at Lydford.

  • By train: The nearest train station is Plymouth
  • Heli-pad: Although there is no heli-pad, it is possible to use one of the fields for helicopter landing

Out and About

  • There are several beautiful walks and rides through the woods to be enjoyed on the estate, follow the course of the meandering river that borders the grounds.
  • Riding on Dartmoor - Riding stables are just a 15-minute drive from the property
  • Clay pigeon shooting (by separate arrangement and charge), unsupervised fly fishing and walking
  • Golf – St. Mellion Golf Club is 40-minutes from the property
  • Children – Swings, trampoline, slide, secure gardens surrounding the house, farm yard animals on the estate farm include Dartmoor ponies, donkeys, pigs, chickens, cows and sheep.
